Dr Mohamed Farag
Professor at Carnegie Mellon University

Dr. Mohamed is a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University and an AI researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. He earned his doctorate in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering from George Washington University, with research on AI-driven resilient systems. He is also the founder of Analytics 4 Everyone LLC, an AI-focused startup, and contributes actively to the tech community through keynote talks, industry panels, and editorial roles, including with the IEEE Systems Journal.

Laila Smith
Director of the IRIS Program

Laila holds an AB in Social Studies with an emphasis on post-colonial theory and history from Harvard University, and an MM from the New England Conservatory in Jazz Voice. While in college, she held leadership roles on the Undergraduate Council, the Arts & Humanities Student Board, and a variety of activist organizations, including the Harvard Graduate Student Union.
