Ceyhun Elgin is primarily affiliated with Columbia University as a lecturer in discipline but also works as a Professor of Economics at Bogazici University in Turkey. He got his BA in economics from Bogazici University and then subsequently obtained his Ph.D. in economics at the University of Minnesota in 2010. His research interests are in applied macroeconomics, economic growth, development economics, and political economics with a particular emphasis on the economics of the informal sector. Previously, Dr. Elgin also had visiting positions at Boston University, Tilburg University, NYU, IMF, and the World Bank.

Irma Encarnación is a Former Associate Director of Admissions at both Dartmouth College and Barnard College. With fifteen years of experience in reading and making decisions on thousands of applications at some of the most competitive U.S. universities, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Beginning her career by guiding students through the college application process, Irma later transitioned to applying a strengths-based counseling lens to her admissions work. She is deeply passionate about creating pathways and uncovering possibilities for the next generation of learners.
Throughout her career in college admissions, Irma led initiatives such as alumni engagement, multicultural recruitment, communications, event planning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts for undergraduate students. In her most recent role as a core member of Spencer Stuart’s Education and Social Impact practice, she collaborated with organizations to identify and recruit executive leaders in education reform, nonprofit, and higher education sectors.
Lucy B. has extensive experience as a Lecturer and Director of Studies in Human Sciences at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. She managed admissions and taught courses in Human Sciences, Archaeology, and Anthropology. She earned her DPhil in Anthropology from Oxford with a Clarendon scholarship, winning awards like the Owen Aldis award and the best student presentation award. Lucy also served as Magdalen College MCR President. Before her DPhil, Lucy graduated with a first-class BA from Cambridge in Human Social and Political Science and an MSc with distinction in Primate Behaviour and Conservation from Liverpool John Moores University. Lucy offers insights into UK university applications and is committed to helping students develop skills for long-term success.
