Convergence Journal

The Concord Review

Founded in 1987, it selects a small percentage of submissions (about 5%), typically long, original history essays, and is highly regarded among academic reviewers and especially by college admissions committees for its rigorous standards and historical scholarship.

A student can submit a history paper to The Concord Review if the paper was completed before finishing secondary school and the student has not yet enrolled in a college or university. The student must be the sole author, and The Concord Review charges a $70 submission fee for each essay. There is no specific submission deadline.

Check Your Eligibility Cutoff Before You Write

The journals that accept high school research set different cutoffs for who can submit, so students should check the rules before they start writing. The Journal of Emerging Investigators accepts work from students who are in middle or high school at the time of submission. The Concord Review accepts history papers completed before the author finishes secondary school, as long as the author has not enrolled in a college or university.

The Journal of Student Research High School Edition requires the first author to be a high school student at an accredited institution, and it also accepts submissions from recent high school graduates.
